Adventurous Elopement at Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is one of those bucket list locations for most photographers. There is nothing like seeing this giant powerful river carve it's way through the earth in such a breathtaking way. About a year ago, before I started focusing on shooting couples and weddings my heart and soul loved landscape photography. There is something so healing and inspiring about the earth God gave us and capturing it became a passion of mine. Being able to mix my past love for landscapes along with the romance of a wedding created the most unforgettable day! Not only was I able to photograph this amazing elopement but I also got to provide this lovely bride with makeup as well. I am still shaking with excitement that I even get to post a blog on this stunning couple at one of the most gorgeous locations in the world! See below for a remarkable elopement that was one for the books!

Muckenthaler Mansion is a stunning estate located in Fullerton, CA. It has some of the prettiest old fashion architecture which made every photo seem so luxurious. This minty green and white inspired wedding was such a breath of fresh air! Purple and darker tones are very popular right now so it was nice being apart of a shoot that was on the opposite end of the spectrum. See below for a really beautiful inspired wedding that I truly feel in love with! I mean how could you not with models as ridiculously stunning as these two???

Urban Inspired Wedding at Luce Loft

Luce Loft, located in downtown San Diego offers some of the most amazing urban features. From it's concrete walls to rod iron staircase and beautiful windows there are so many creative ways to use the space. It was such an inspiring experience getting creative and using the light and shadows from the giant windows to create some beautiful contrast. I also really enjoyed the beautiful white walls outside which create the perfect backdrop. I really had a blast not only shooting at this venue but also providing makeup for our two bridesmaids and our bride! See below for a really trendy inspired wedding at one of the coolest venues in San Diego!

Morgan + Andres // Snowy Mountain Adventure at Convict Lake

Mammoth mountain holds a special place in my heart because everywhere you look is beautiful no matter what the season. Morgan and Andres were visiting mammoth and decided a fun wintery photo session would be a great way to remember their trip. I also had the opportunity to do a really beautiful smokey/silvery makeup look on Morgan to go with the theme of the shoot. I loved how she mixed her black leather jacket with a beautiful lavender colored dress; it really fit the the whole vibe of the wintery shoot. When we headed over the the lake I was a little worried the weather would be too stormy but we lucked out and  had a soft dusting of snow that made each shot feel like a beautiful winter wonderland. These two were so adorable and I loved how they were willing to endure the cold temperatures and still have a good time. See below for a snowy mountain photoshoot that still gives me chills!

Tropical Hawaiian Inspired Wedding at Haiku Mill

Maui offers numerous stunning views of high mountains and white sandy beaches that it's hard to find even one spot on this island that doesn't take your breath away. Haiku Mill is a gorgeous wedding venue tucked in the hills of Maui. This venue just drips with an old time charm and Hawaiian tropical vibes. With the hanging vines and flowers that naturally cover the venue it looks almost unworldly. I have heard weddings that purposefully install flowers to drip from the ceilings in a similar fashion and it costs thousands of dollars to do so. This venue is so special because it offers this beautiful atmosphere in such an organic way. And what is a wedding in Hawaii if you don't take some photos on the beach as well?! For the last hour of sunlight we took some really fun photos on the beach and I was so happy that this fun couple wasn't afraid to get a little dirty! See below for a really fun Hawaiian inspired wedding!

Camille + Joram // Chicago Botanical Garden & City Couples Session

Camille and Joram have been together for 10 years. Did you hear that 10 YEARS! That's incredible, inspiring, and down right awesome! To celebrate their beautiful relationship that has withstood the test of time we did a fun photoshoot at a super lush botanical garden as well as around the city of Chicago. It was so fun shooting them in a natural and urban environment! I was so stoked to hang out with these two love birds and enjoy the city with them. See below for a super fun couples session that includes all the best Chicago has to offer.

P.S. I got to do Camille's makeup for this shoot as well!

Deep Purples and Midnight Blue Inspired Weddings at Sacred Mountain Julian

Nestled in southern California, Julian is a cute little town offering an old worldly feel and atmosphere. The minute you drive into this town you can feel it's rich history with it's cute old buildings and shops. Sacred Mountain is a gorgeous venue with an outdoor natural environment. One of my favorite parts of the venue was the giant lawn with amazing views of the hills perfect for a ceremony. See below for two amazing inspired weddings at one of the most naturally romantic locations in southern California!

Courtney + Cole // Carbon Canyon Engagement Session

Courtney and Cole are not only the most warm hearted couples I have ever met but are also the cutest! Courtney happens to be a good friend that I have know since the 3d grade! We have stayed friends all these years and it is crazy that today I am now writing a blog about her engagement! These two met in high school and have been together over the last 8 years! (High school sweet hearts are the best!) They're love for each other has withstood through so much and I seriously look up to them for their strength as a couple. They both have a crazy love for animals! They both have donated so much of their time and energy into saving and rehabilitating animals in need. They're hearts are so big and they work tirelessly for the broken and needy animals that they come across. I was so incredibly happy for these two when they got engaged last year! When two beautiful people come together to form not only a great couple but an awesome team in life you can't help but get giddy inside. I had the pleasure of doing their engagement session to document their love for each other during this amazing time of their life. I also had so much fun doing Courtney's makeup for this session as well. See below for fun loving couple that truly embodies what it means to be partners in life.

Blaire + Griffin // Daytona Beach Shores Elopement

Blaire and Griffin not only allowed me to capture their stunning elopement in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida but also share their story. Blaire is actually my first cousin and even though we lived on opposite sides of the country our entire life I always felt connected to her. Her genuine and kind personality always made it easy to reconnect with her every time we got the chance to see each-other. I even made her my maid of honor at my wedding! Well enough about me and Blaire lets talk about Blaire and Griffin. Blaire met Griffin in college many years ago and they dated for quite some time. At that time Griffin was in ROTC and was planning to join the army while Blaire was studying PR and planning on working in New York City one day. Once they graduated school Griffin was sent to Oklahoma and Blaire got a job working at Columbia university. For years they went through a long distance relationship which was new ground for them because dating throughout college meant they were always together. My heart went out to Blaire as I saw her miss him every time they were apart and we would talk about how difficult it was to see him only every few months or so. They were constantly trying to work out when would be the best time to get married. Life and situations kept delaying what they desired so badly, to be husband and wife. Finally they saw an opening in their lives, Griffin was going to be deployed to south Korea and they decided that when he returned and after he went through officer training school they would get married. Blaire planned on leaving her job and would go with Griffin wherever the military would take him. The plan seemed perfect and I was so excited for both of them! But like most things in life not everything goes according to plan. After Griffin finished his training school at the top of his class he found out that he would be deployed to none other than Guantanamo Bay. Now you may ask well that's okay why can't Blaire go with Griffin to Guantanamo? Well the thing about Guantanamo is that it is technically a Navy base and they don't allow the men that are in the army to bring their families there. The news crushed Blaire and Griffin and their glimmer of hope to get married was snuffed out once again. All the years of waiting and anticipation for a new life together was torn down in only an instant. My heart broke for Blaire and I knew this news was nothing what she expected. Around this same time period Blaire found out even sadder news, her mother (my aunt) had been diagnosed with colon cancer. The words from the doctors did not seem promising and as a family we were all shocked. Blaire is the strongest, funniest, most empathetic woman I know and it was devastating to see her and her family have to be given this news. Blaire and Griffin knew that their time had run out and that even if that meant spending their first year apart they needed to get married as soon as possible. So with no time to loose and their parents at their sides Blaire and Griffin went to a local court house in Maryland and got married. No fancy ceremony, no giant reception, no expensive wedding dress they just did it and it was beautiful. Sometimes it's the most simple weddings that have the most heart and the most meaning. Even through the madness and unpredictability of life they still walked down the isle and chose each-other. A few days later we would be meeting in Daytona Beach to celebrate her older brothers marriage which he had also worked hard to have sooner than later. Because we were all together for a few days prior to her brothers wedding we decided to give these two the photos and memories that they could hold onto forever. I spent the day doing Blaire's hair and makeup and brought a second hand dress that I had found online. I contacted a local florist who donated a bouquet and boutonnière for this shoot and they did such a beautiful job! We decided to do a first look with these two and it was so special and sweet it was hard to keep the tears back. Capturing their love which had withstood the test of time and tribulation was such an incredible honor. See below for a touching elopement shoot for a couple who truly deserves the world.

Cheyenne + Julian // Antique wedding at The Vintage Rose

Cheyenne & Julian contacted me last summer and we arranged a little consultation at a local Starbucks to discuss their January wedding. When I first met these two I could tell they were both incredibly kind people who cared deeply about each other. They were so sweet and I was so excited when they decided to hire me to shoot their special day. Gina (my second shooter) and myself showed up to their beautiful venue in Orange, CA and couldn't wait to capture every element of their big day! This venue was so unique and had the most amazing vintage feel. I absolutely love venues that embrace antique and vintage furniture and atmosphere as I really love to shoot and edit in a film inspired way. Cheyenne got ready in the cutest bridal room with her bridesmaids and I really enjoyed capturing each quiet moment. Everyone seemed super relaxed and calm as the big moment was approaching. Once we got to their ceremony I could see the joy and excitement in Cheyennes eyes as she walked down the isle towards her love. These two were so dynamic and their true emotion and love for each other showed so clearly! Their ceremony space was so stunning and sweet I really feel like it reflected their personalities. This was a timeless wedding for a couple who shared a timeless love. After the ceremony we had an awesome time taking photos of the two of them really embracing the fact that they were now married! Afterwards their reception was fun and filled with so many emotional moments! Gina and I had a hard time keeping a dry eye as we shot this touching family and couple. They really took in every moment of their special day and I feel so blessed that I got to capture it for them! See below for a sweet antique wedding that not only looked beautiful but felt beautiful!

Bronze and Dusty Blue inspired wedding at Crystal Cove

Antique details are some of my favorite and this styled shoot was filled with them! From beautiful bronzy plates to dusty blue and light pink flowers the tones of this shoot were just exquisite. This gorgeous shoot took place at Crystal cove beach which is home to some of the most breathtaking cliffs and beachside in all of California. This simple yet uniquely timeless shoot really inspired my editing as I dove into my favorite kind of film inspired edits. There is something about the contrast of light and dark in classic film prints that I love. It feels like I am in my high school photography class all over again. Washing each print and watching them slowly develop before me was one of my most treasured memories. I hope you enjoy this gallery as much as I enjoyed taking these and editing them! Side note! I got the awesome opportunity to contribute by provided makeup for both the bride and bridesmaid for this shoot as well!

Winter Equestrian inspired wedding

With the coming of winter darker and richer jewel tones also come in season. I love it when the weather starts to get cold and people start wearing deep red scarves or dark green hats to fit the season. This styled shoot was inspired by the tones and colors of winter expressed in two different ways. First we have a more traditional bride showing some of the brighter more light tones of the season and then we have a more non-traditional edgy bride wearing darker tones of black, green and red. And what is a styled shoot without a few horses? These guys were so fun to work with and made the entire set up so magical! Check out this fun styled shoot where I got to provide makeup for both models as well as some of my own photography!

Mara + Vincent // rose center theater wedding

Some time ago last year I was contacted from a newly engaged couple excited for their wedding that they had planned for the month of November. Once we finally met it up was so wonderful getting to know this sweet couple. Mara and Vincent were super laid back and simply wanted to have some photos from their special day that they could treasure. I immediately got my good friend Gina Purcell on board to second shoot for me and I was so  incredibly excited to capture their wedding day. Their wedding took place at the Rose Center Theater located in Westminster California. Mara and Vincents ceremony was so sweet and intimate, I loved getting to capture each moment these two had as they became husband and wife. And let me tell you these two were not afraid to enjoy themselves! Each of them had an awesome time celebrating the night away and can I mention probably had one of the sweetest first dances I have ever seen! Take a look at this sweet and intimate wedding that will definitely give you all the feels!
