Yosemite Winter Elopement | Amanda + Omar

Some stories don’t arrive all at once.
Some take time to unfold, to soften, to find their voice again.

This one waited for me.

I photographed Amanda and Omar’s elopement four years ago, in a season where my own life felt full in a completely different way. I was a brand new mom, learning how to hold so many things at once, and while I captured their day with so much intention, I didn’t have the space to share it then.

And now, coming back to it… it feels even more meaningful.

Because since this day, I’ve had the honor of photographing their maternity. Their baby. Their growing story.

This wasn’t just an elopement. It was the beginning of everything.

Yosemite in the winter has a quiet kind of magic.
The kind that doesn’t ask for attention, but gently holds it anyway.

Snow settled softly along the cliffs. The air felt still, almost reverent. And tucked into it all were Amanda and Omar, standing across from each other, reading vows that felt like they belonged to the mountains just as much as they did to them.

No crowd. No noise. Just presence.

Amanda wore the softest wrap around her shoulders, her dress catching the light in that way only winter light allows. The world felt both expansive and incredibly small at the same time.

There’s something about elopements that strips everything back to what matters.

No timeline pressure.
No expectations.
Just two people choosing each other, fully.

And that’s exactly what this felt like.

One of my favorite parts of the day wasn’t the ceremony itself, but what came after. The in-between moments. The walking, the laughing, the navigating snow in wedding attire like it was all part of the plan.

It felt real. Unfiltered. Alive.

The kind of moments that don’t need direction, just witnessing.

Looking at these images now, I see more than just a beautiful day.

I see the beginning of a family I’ve now had the privilege to continue documenting. I see trust. I see connection that extends far beyond a single session.

And I’m reminded why I do this.

Because photography, at its best, isn’t just about capturing a moment.

It’s about holding onto a story as it grows.

Amanda and Omar,
thank you for letting me be part of your beginning… and everything that’s come after.
